  • We have now come through the first named second named Tropical Storm of the season, Barry. It was a pleasant experience. The rain seemed just about right. The follow up wind and surge was just right for the Gulf Coast surfing crowd and I had a power outage of about two hours.

  • These fires are 350 miles from me. The smoke here has ranged from eye stinging to chokingly thick. We have even had ash fall.

  • I believe that Obama would do himself a favor by avoiding the typical attack mode of modern politics and to appeal to the better angels of our (some of our) natures with his soaring oratory. It worked for Lincoln.

  • There is no mental health system in the US. There are profit centers that will take your money, be it cash payment to providers or dollar swapping with insurance companies. All that is done in the name of behavioral health. "It is not mental, it is behavioral."
